Ok so I've tried really hard over the last 2 weeks I've been really strict with calories over the last 2 weeks and always taken the healthy options where I can. The only worked away 1 night this fortnight and although I did have steak, chips and veg I did do 30 lenghts of the swimming pool in Coventry to try to help. I also had a poached egg on brown toast, porrage and fruit for breakfast. I've been doing excersise at least twice a week sometimes 4 times a week but this is not easy with an injured knee. I've been to 2 physio sessions and now have to strap my knee with tape every morning to help the pain when I walk.
So weigh in today and I've lost nothing, that's right nothing 2000/1800 calories a day apparently I'm now being told is to much and I have to cut down to 1500 per day. Neadless to say I shed a few tears in the surgery poor nurse I'm so sorry. Talked about how I felt which summed up is (in masses of pain, missrable and just want to sleep) Nurse by this stage looking very worried again sorry. So new idea to try to kick start the weight loss. She has perscribed me Orlistat to take 3 times a day with my meals and it will help shift some of the fat. You have to have a BMI over 30 for this stuff mine is 31 :-( and I'm now very scarred of taking it as it waits for no one (if you have to go you have to go) it also punishes you if you eat a lot of fat which will make me think about everything I eat from now in. I will not be taking it when working away as we agreed this was a bad move at the moment but I plan to start taking the Orlistat from tomorrow.
Physio has also now said I have to do 1 full hour of excersise every day so late last night Tarkka had another hours walk (Au Pair walks him twice a day while I'm working so Tarkka got over 2.5 hours in walks yesterday) Unlike Tarkka I really struggled this morning, knee is killing my, popping pain killers (wonder if they have calories) however I need to do as the physio and surgery suggest as the more weight I can shift the less pain my knee will be in. Going to look for an excersise bike at the weekend as I could then cycle and watch things like holby, wonder if I could balance my laptop on handlebars of execise bike as I could then chat on facebook while loosing weight, now there's a good idea.
Right just had lunch of cracker bread, cottage cheese, toms, baby corn, carrot battons and 30g of good to yourself pate with a bowl of herb salard.
Just need to do my hour of excersie and eat next to nothing for tea and I'm done for another day. :-)

Week 1 Day 1
So today I had the joy of going to my first weigh in :-(
Height = 5ft 1inch
Weight = 11st 10lbs
BMI = 31
Waist = 36 inc
So yes I sit in the obese section of the BMI chart yippee.
Hears what the weight clinic nurse had to say.
Simple really................................or is it. You see before she started giving me all this great advice I explained I worked full time and travelled all over the country with my job. Live out of a suitcase most weeks and my second home is a Premier Inn. I spend up to 6 hours a day driving or on trains and when not travelling have back to back meetings making regular timed lunchbreaks difficult and often don't finish work until gone 7pm when I then have to start thinking about evening meals be it hotel or at home.
So how do you suggest I can follow halve her advice. Don't get me wrong I don't dispute the advice but I do dispute the support and understanding of the problems my job bring to my health lifestyle.
So here is my reviesed plan.

- Cut out all cheese
- Max 2000 calories per day
- Cut out alcohol
- Switch to low fat everything
- When working away prepare or buy low fat lunches and cart with you on train (as if I don't have enough to carry)
- Try to eat more food first thing and reduce during the day so large breakfast, medium lunch, small tea and eat last meal before 6pm
- Excercise 5 times a week for at least 30 mins
- Eat off a side plate as this is the amount of food you should eat
- Eat slowly at a table and put knife and fork down while chewing and chew food slowly

- 1850 Caloriesper day and to help with this I will blog what I eat
- Cycling or swimming 3 times a week for 1 hour this will be one evening and then sat & sundays
- Reduce cheese and alcohol intake as if I cut out and go cold turkey I will just krave and I'm depressed enough as it is.
- Switch what I can to low fat at home (this will be difficult when eating in hotels but try to plump for low fat calorie options)
- Purchase when traveling lowest calorie sandwiches and for every cuppa tea I have also drink half a bottle of water.
- Eating lots in the morning I can't do as I start work far to early but maybe I can bring this in over time
- Eat as early as you can in the evening but don't bust a gut to eat before 6pm as this is not possible when eating with clients or working away. Nor is the slow eating idea.
- Get a slimmers plate for home to eat smaller portions and try to weigh out more portions.
Why I'm doing this
Ok so why am I running a weight loss blog?
Last week I was advised by a consultant at my local hospital that I have a worn knee cap that they are unable to repair. The pain is intermittent so because of this they are also unable to give me anything to manage the pain. However the best thing I can do is lose weight as this will help my knee. For every stone in weight you are your knee takes 12 x this in pressure.
So feeling very low (emotion not wight or low fat lol) I arranged to see the nurse to discuss weight, pain managment.
To help me plot my journey through what I know will be highs and lows I've decided to blog about it. More as a release for me as I find I cope better if I don't bottle all the sadness up. I love food and going out to eat, this is really going to kill me but the other option is struggle with masses of pain in my knee and hip which is a no go zone so I have to give this a try.
